You do not have to be a student at Tennessee State University to become a cadet at Detachment 790.  Many of our cadets come from surrounding schools in the area.

The following schools are Det. 790 cross-town schools:

Belmont University (BU)
Lipscomb University (LU)
Fisk University (FU)
Freewill Bible College (FWBBC)
Meharry Medical College
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU)
Nashville State Community College (NSCC)
Sewanee University (SU)
Tennessee Technological University (TTU)
Vanderbilt University (VU)
Volunteer State Community College (VSCC)
Western Kentucky University (WKU)

If you are a student or are going to be a student at one of the above schools and are interested in joining Det. 790, please do the following:

Mail these documents (not faxed) to Det. 790 before the deadline in order to enter the program:

Crosstown Application
Medical history
Certificate of Immunization
Meningococcal Meningitis and Hepatitis B Immunization Form
Fitness Screening Questionnaire
Pre-Participatory Sports Physical
Sports Physical

High school or college transcripts (not both)

The deadline for receiving these documents is:

1 July for Fall term

1 November for Spring term

Cross-town student applications should be mailed to:

After the needed documents have been received (about 2-weeks after mailed in), students will be able to register for AFROTC classes through the TSU web site.
