Mary Elizabeth Townsel is an expressionist painter who begins her paintings non objectively and uses vibrant colors and abstract designs to convey images that tend to reflect different states of consciousness.   A native of Chicago, Illinois, she has studied at The American Academy of Art, Illinois Institute of Technology, Columbia College of Chicago, and Watkins Institute.   She has a history of  involvement in the artistic community, participating in numerous group shows, and has served on the executive committees of several local organizations. Currently she is the Librarian for the Tennessee Art League.
