Statement |
|
I was born and raised in
Calcutta, India. Being
surrounded by poverty, and
yet not being touched by it
seemed so surreal to me. I
would cry when I saw a child
begging for food. The guilt
of having more than many in
a not so-perfect world still
lingers within me. Art
somehow helps me find that
sanctuary within me.
My family will always come
first, but my art is
definitely a close second.
I am an impressionist. Being
an emotional person, color
in my paintings represents
emotions. I love color.
Color excites me. I am a
tactile person, too.
Therefore, my paintings are
an interplay of colors and
texture mostly. I love
painting landscapes and
seascapes among other
things.
I would like to extend my
appreciation and gratitude
to Tennessee State
University and Loretta
Divens for giving me the
opportunity to share my
creative side. |
